Empowering generations to make a difference through young people in their communities through activism

Distraction Community & Youth Project is a driven Community Interest Company. We create spaces for youth to thrive through their wellbeing and mental health- powered by community and activism.
The project is a Banbury-based charity founded in 2025 by Lee Davis and a team of dedicated youth workers, following years of successful youth engagement at North Oxfordshire Academy. After over 400 young people completed the Level 3 Youth Work qualification through the Academy, it became clear that there was a wider need for youth provision across the town- somewhere safe, supportive, and inspiring for young people to go, and something meaningful for them to do.

WHO ARE DISTRACTION?
At Distraction Community & Youth Project, young people lead the way and have always been the heart of what we do, since day one. They help guide our services through regular consultation and by leading our Youth Committee, ensuring what we offer continues to meet their real and evolving needs.
Our board of trustees includes young adults who have completed the Level 3 qualification and are rooted in the local community- bringing firsthand insight and lived experience into our leadership.
